Guadalupe and Johnson | Rooftop Engagement | Dominican Republic

As someone who photographs destination weddings, I have had the honor of capturing some of life's most precious moments in the most beautiful locations around the world. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a proposal in the breathtaking Dominican Republic for two dear friends of mine!

The Dominican is Guadalupe’s first home, so Johnson knew just how important this location is to her. We spent a lot of our trip visiting family and taking in all the hospitality (and food!) they had to offer us. Which was beyond wonderful!! Our first day in the D.R. we went to visit Guadalupe’s family at her childhood home. She still had no idea, but I could feel the anticipation and excitement in the air as we made our way to the house where the proposal was set to take place.

As we arrived, we were greeted by the warm sun kissing our skin and lots of hugs . It was the perfect setting for a proposal! With the help of Guadalupe’s family everything was ready to go on the roof. I quickly set up my equipment and waited for the groom-to-be to lead the way. He had planned every detail to perfection, and I knew that this proposal was going to be something special.

When we reached the top floor Guadalupe was shocked to find red and white balloons beautifully displayed all over the roof. It was such a romantic gesture, and the perfect way to set the stage for what was about to happen. As Johnson got down on one knee, I was ready with my camera to capture the magical moment. The look of surprise and joy on Guadalupe’s face was priceless, and I could feel the emotion in the air as she said yes. I continued to photograph the couple as they embraced and shared an intimate moment, capturing the raw emotions of love and happiness.

After the happy tears dried we were all met with the wrath of Guadalupe for keeping a secret from her. Sorry girl!! But in all seriousness I felt incredibly grateful to have been a part of it. This proposal shoot in the Dominican Republic was an unforgettable experience that I will always treasure. The stunning location, the loving couple, and the magical moment all came together to create a truly memorable experience that I was fortunate enough to capture.
